Aristic Director of Polaris Dance Theatre since its inception in 2002, Robert Guitron continues the process of creating the company's 5th original evening length production due to premier in October 2006. Mr. Guitron has danced, taught and choreographed throughout the U.S., Canada, Italy and Japan with Pacific Dance Ensemble, Oregon Ballet Theatre, Opera Omaha, Portland Opera, Pacific Ballet Theatre, Deux Vault, Liquid Blue Ice, Northwest Academy of the Arts and Jefferson Dancers. Aside from his repertory work, his credits include musicals, music videos and television commercials. In 1992 his choreography was recognized and awarded the Best Music Video of the Year. His teaching has placed students in major dance companies and colleges including Alvin Ailey, Limon Company, Cunningham and Julliard. Previous to the artistic direction of Polaris Dance Theatre, Guitron's recent choreography projects include Aida for the Portland Opera, Hello Dolly, the Annual Adidas sales presentation, the 2000 premiere of Snowman with Michael Alan Harrison, and the NW Academy of the Arts Esprit. His most recent works as a dancer include shows such as Carmina Burana, The Cunning Little Vixen, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, American Choreographer’s Showcase, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Man of la Mancha and A Chorus Line.
