YOU ARE OUR MOST VALUED CRITIC!
“I attended the opening performance of Polaris Dance Theatre’s, iCHANGE last night, here in Portland, and was amazed – translate: Blown-A-Way – with their rich, powerful style; an amazing performance! If you live in the Portland area, go see them either tonight or Friday night. Both the music and the dance are deeply inspiring. Go…just go…you will thank yourself later. I promise!” - Michael Harrington
iChange rocked the house! Those dancers got it going on! -Donald Rhodes
“iChange is fabulous. Crisp, energetic, balanced, and with the addition of the vintage film, “Entr’acte”, in intermission as well as the multimedia glimpes of The Rose City, it is a can’t miss! Runs through Friday so hurry!!” – Michael Conway Grubbs
“Last evening at the Newmark I attended your performance and it was a brilliant evening in every respect. I am continually thrilled at the talent in our town. The dancing was as good as I have ever seen, and I have been interested in dance forever. I used to live in NYC and went to many performances of Twyla Tharpe, and always a fan of Jacques D’Amboise’ National Dance Institute, and attended many of his great shows with the kids. I loved Trisha Brown and went to many shows at SUNY ….just a little of my life long interest. I am saying all this as I have been interested in dance for decades.
I felt last night’s performance was as good as anything I have ever seen and better. The entire evening – the music, choreography, and the films – made for the most fluid program. And the 1924 film by R. Clair with Marcel Duchamps, Man Ray and everyone, music by Eric Satie, etc, and to see the film almost at the outset of film, to be so brilliant in every sense of filmmaking was beyond thrilling. What a gift that was!
Your dancers are exquisite. I had an absolute glorious evening and I will look forward to attending any and all of your performances when I am home in Portland. – Thank you for a memorable evening.” – Sheila Campion
“I had judged Portland as a city of culinary and visual art, but this festival was a beautiful, fun challenging way to disprove that notion. The yoga (class) woke my body as I saluted the sun that peaked out from an overcast sky, jazz pushed me physically, modern challenged me technically, African stimulated me culturally, while Bollywood allowed me to celebrate the joy of life!! The Polaris Dance Festival was such a moving experience for me in every way: Mind, body and spirit. What a beautiful thought to have everybody moving… the whole city!” – Diana Bustos
