Blues Music + Modern Dance = TooBLUE
Polaris Dance Theatre remains deep in the throws of steamy, sultry, summer rehearsals for TooBLUE due to premier October 18 in Portland at PSU's Lincoln Hall. TooBLUE celebrates the talents of guest choreographers, Mary Osland and Gregg Bielemeier as well as Artistic Director, Robert Guitron and its company of 12 dancers.

TooBLUE revisits a crowd pleasing suite of dance pieces from its original program "BLUE" which premeired in 2004, and adds 6 new works to its program. All time music greats like John Lee Hooker, Linda Hopkins, Koko Taylor, Taj Mahal, Kelly Joe Phelps will fill the theatre "....cutting a wide swath from raw Mississippi swamp to sweaty juke-joint to citified big-band to electric, using the rolling rumble of a train as a narrative thread through time and place." TooBLUE explores the richness of old time Blues as well as the whimsy and contemporary sound of newer works. Modern Dance and the Blues... a soulshaking, heartbreaking, groovy combination!! Mark your calendars!

Summer Masterclasses - JOIN US!
Polaris Dance Theatre hosts a 2-day masterclass weekend workshop in July and August 2006 at Pacific Artists Dance Center. These masterclasses will be taught primarily by Artistic Director, Robert Guitron, along with members of Polaris Dance Theatre. These 2-day weekend workshops are suited for intermediate through the professional level dancer.

Technique class will be built on a series of multi-disciplinary techniques including Horton, Graham, Limon and Ballet intending to improve strength and alignment while preparing for agressive and athletic reperatory work. Guitron’s choreography links lyrical movement with contrasting angular lines providing for a complex and innovative movement style. Reperatory class will finish the 2-day workshop with the aid of the Polaris Dance Theatre company dancers in a rehearsal setting.
